Dive in and dive out
The Salzkammergut is a rural area dominated by lakes and mountains, alpine pastures, meadows, and numerous cycling and hiking trails, as well as ski slopes and kilometers of pistes. But culturally, too, a lot happens in the small town and the region.
You can attend concerts, theater performances, exhibitions, and vernissages, and of course, many fun hut evenings, sometimes with live music.
The event calendar is especially packed during the summer months, and you will often have the dilemma of choosing so as not to miss any of these events.
Attractions in Grundlsee
- If you prefer to be on the water rather than in it, you should spend time at the boat docks at Grundlsee. Nostalgic steamers often come by, dock, and bring guests, visitors, and locals conveniently to the district of Gössl.
- If you prefer to steer yourself, it's a good idea to rent one of the boats from the boat rentals for a pleasant time. It’s not too bad if you end up overboard—deliberately, of course.
- Looking for a treasure hunt? Grab diving gear and search for the sunken treasure in the Toplitzsee. Just a small warning: no one has found it yet, and it is even said that it doesn't want to be found.
- If you’ve always wanted to see where a river originates, Kammersee is the place for you. Here, the Traun River begins, flowing over Kammersee, Toplitzsee, and Grundlsee, continuing to Bad Aussee, and eventually into the Danube.
Favorite Restaurants in Grundlsee
- As ubiquitous as salt, the lake inhabitants are also present in the Ausseerland Salzkammergut region. Fish, as far as the eye can see. Deep in the Toplitzsee, the Fischerhütte is a real insider tip. A unique location and excellent food conclude an eventful day at Grundlsee.
- Above the lake, the Gasthaus Seeblick offers a sunny terrace with a stunning view of the Styrian Sea and the mountain landscape. The menu is also impressive, and with this panorama, everything tastes even better.
